NYKY plays Saariaho / FLOW Festival

Description by Flow Festival: NYKY Ensemble is a contemporary music ensemble founded in 2009 at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. It is a forum for contemporary music projects, offering perspectives on contemporary art music trends and techniques. The ensemble’s composition depends on the works performed, and the guest conductor for each concert period is a musician or ensemble specialising in contemporary music. For Flow Festival 2024, NYKY Ensemble has prepared a program of electro-acoustic works by Kaija Saariaho, who passed away last year, under the direction of cellist Anssi Karttunen who worked closely with Saariaho and has premiered several of her works.

As a part of this project, I had the honour to perform and run Kaija Saariaho's Max patches - integral parts of the compositions played by NYKY Ensemble.
