Moving Pieces

Moving Pieces is a palette of sounds and gestures that, to me, feel moving — emotionally or in a literal, physical sense. This work highlights that “unwanted“ noises such as handling a recording device mid-recording, or residual electromagnetic hum can be as impactful as a string passage or a tonal, sustained guitar drone, or a whisper. What it means to be moved or touched by those sounds in the context of this piece, how, and whether they are moving at all, is left to the listener to decide.
