Jekaterina Viltšenko (she/they) is a Helsinki-based composer, sound designer, and artist. They are currently studying Music Technology at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki.
Jekaterina's work spans a wide range of genres and practices, including electroacoustic composition, live performance, and sound design for stage and visual media.
In their current practice, Jekaterina is focused on themes of human connection, belonging, silence, and navigating uncertainty. Through sonic storytelling, they explore the role of sound in evoking complex emotions in listeners, and how it is enriching the narrative by adding a new dimention and depth.
Over the years, Jekaterina has collaborated on projects that explore a wide range of themes, from social issues to personal stories both withing the frame of traditional theater pieces and beyond, towards experimental forms of art.
Jekaterina has collaborated with artists, organisations, and ensembles such as Melisa Yıldırım, Diana Harten, Iida-Maria Kuronen, Maria Krugovaya, Maissi Uusitalo, NYKY Ensemble, Helsingin Kellariteatteri, Theatre Academy, and others.
